Staff from Sevenoaks-based insurance brokers Belmont International have been digging to make a difference following their participation in voluntary project on behalf of the Kent Wildlife Trust and are urging other volunteers to get back to nature as well.
The Trust is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and as part of a series of events to commemorate the landmark, has joined forces with Belmont International to host a Festival of Wildlife at the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve on August 16 and 17.
A team of volunteers from Belmont International, which itself is celebrating its 20th birthday anniversary this year, have donned their wellies to help prepare the ground and create a new Elemental and Wild Garden.
Barrie Etchells, Belmont International’s Managing Director, said: “As a Kent-based company we are strong believers in the importance of preserving the fantastic flora and fauna we have in the county, which is a major reason why we have been a supporter of the Trust since 2000.
“We also feel we have a strong sense of responsibility to our local community as many of our customers and staff are based in Kent and live and commute from within the locality. Therefore we are delighted to be able to get our spades out and I would urge other people to do the same.”
Live music, guided walks, children’s activities, as well as scuba diving and wildlife photography master-classes will be among the entertainment available over the festival weekend. Entry is free and for more details visit www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk.
Formed in 1988, Belmont has grown to become one of the leading insurance brokers and independent financial advisers in the UK and employs more than 100 staff at its headquarters in Otford near Sevenoaks.
