Pupils Art On Display For Bishops
Artwork by St Edmund’s School Canterbury sixth-formers is being shown at the Lambeth Conference 2008, taking place at the University of Kent campus from 16 July until 3 August.

The exhibition will be seen by hundreds of Anglican bishops from around the world who are attending the conference, an event that takes place every 10 years. Invited by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the 800 bishops and spouses spend their time in the city in discussion, study and worship.

Featuring ten pieces by eight pupils, the exhibition is a selection of ‘A’ Level artwork in a variety of styles including photomontage, digital photography, oil painting and mixed media. Canon Brian Chalmers, Chairman of the Canterbury Liaison Committee for the Lambeth Conference 2008, approached the school with the idea of providing a sample of work.

St Edmund’s School Canterbury headmaster Jeremy Gladwin said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit the high quality of our pupils’ artwork at a prestigious event such as the Lambeth Conference.”

The pupils whose work is on display are: Hugo Nation, Josh Saunders, Louise Thompson, Sophie Bacon (all from Canterbury), Clemmie Elias (Ash), Ena Naseem (Sri Lanka) and brother and sister Freddie and Charlotte Pack (Romney Marsh).
