Hurricane Bertha is first
The Tropical storm has now become Hurricane Bertha and it’s the first of this Atlantic season, the National Hurricane Center has reported today at around 5 a.m. EDT that Bertha was around 845 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.

The NHC also said that it was still too early to tell where Hurricane Bertha would hit land or in fact if it would do at all.

The winds have increased to make Bertha a Hurricane and they will continue to-do so, its being reported that the Maximum sustained winds have increased to around 90 miles per hour.

Bertha is moving around 13 knots / 15 mph in a west-northwest direction, it is the first Hurricane of the Atlantic season but Arthur was the first named storm, although it started one day before June 1st (the season official start date).

You can get the most up-to-date information about Hurricane Bertha from the National Hurricane Center site and they also have a view of the Atlantic, you just hover over Bertha to get stats.
