Children spend afternoon at Benenden Hospital
Children from Benenden Primary School took a break from lessons to spend the afternoon at Benenden Hospital learning first aid skills and how to help in an emergency. The children, aged ten and eleven, were taught CPR, control of bleeding and how to put someone in the recovery position.

“The sooner children start to learn first aid, the better,” said the hospital’s clinical nurse teacher Carol March. “It has become a well known fact that some children have saved the life of a family member or friend from simple basic first aid knowledge. We hope that the skills taught to the children will never be needed, however if they are, it may just be enough to save a life”

The hospital also runs four-day in depth courses leading to a First Aid at Work qualification and day-long basic first aid courses as well as emergency first aid for schools. For further details contact Ros or Val on 01580 242439
