Taktix helps schools
A team of Kent’s top business advisers has created a fun and challenging suite of online and board games to help schools and colleges deliver PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Education) and Enterprise. Taktix – “A Taste of Enterprise” is suitable for students of all ages at Key Stage 3 and above and can be played at three levels – beginners, intermediate and advanced.

The business advisers developed the games working closely with both teachers and students in Kent schools to ensure they produced a great learning tool, which can be used in conjunction with many other enterprise programmes that have already been introduced.

The Taktix team, based at Kings Hill, near West Malling, has more than 25 years business experience ¬– much of it helping new and growing companies across Kent.

Teachers need no additional training in order to take advantage of the full educational benefits of the game and to meet the new enterprise elements of the changing curriculum.

And students gain a good introduction to business and can learn in a fun environment getting to grips with business concepts and terminology. They also learn that in business anything can happen and that preparing beforehand and taking advice are important lessons.

“Everyone begins with a business start-up loan and then makes key decisions on what products and services to purchase before running their business,” said Kim Fletcher, of the Taktix development team.

“Opportunities and challenges come along reflecting the many highs and lows of everyday business life taking in such issues as IT, the environment, insurance, overdrafts, changing markets and much more.

“Taktix Online, developed specifically for schools, was the natural step after the creation of our two Taktix board games which have proved great fun and incredibly successful in introducing people to the concepts of business for the first time.

“With the online version at the click of a mouse the answers are there if you take the time to look. The game is not just about winning – it’s about finding the right information and making decisions based upon that knowledge.”

Printable reports at the end of each game identify knowledge gaps and teachers can download Taktix Schools Workbooks for every student, packed full of business and enterprise information and activities.

This makes the online game ideal as an entertaining introduction to business as well as an excellent revision tool for all students.

Throughout the game there are lots of opportunities to link to top tips and independent advice from the relevant pages of the Business Link website.

League tables of players’ successes can create positive competition between students and teachers can look at their performance individually, by class, by year or by school.

The full Taktix – A Taste of Enterprise online suite for schools and colleges costs £495 plus VAT,

Teachers, schools and colleges can sign up for a free one-month trial of Taktix – A Taste of Enterprise at enterprisetaktix.com/freetrial or contact the Taktix team for further information on 01732 878587.
