Kent Big Day Out photo competition
A Canterbury couple have been presented with a bottle of Kentish “bubbly” to celebrate winning the Kent Big Day Out photo competition. Tanya and Matthew Morris, of St Dunstans, were among Kent residents who took advantage of more than 15,000 free tickets to visit more than 130 attractions on this year’s Kent Big Day Out on March 29. The Visit Kent Big Day Out organisers at Kent County Council staged a competition for the best pictures taken on the day.

More than 40 photographs were shortlisted and posted on the Kent Big Day Out web pages at www.visitkent.co.uk. Judges selected Mr Morris’ photograph of his wife kissing a stone bust at Hever Castle, for the top prize.

Amanda Cottrell, Visit Kent chairman, presented Mrs Morris, a marketing manager at Ashford Designer Outlet, with her competition prize in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral.

Mrs Morris said: “Matthew and I had a great time at Hever Castle on the Kent Big Day Out – it is a really beautiful place. The photograph turned out very well and reflected the fun we enjoyed so I sent it in to the competition.”

It is the first time Mr Morris, an environmental consultant, has won a photographic competition. He and Tanya planned to take the bottle of Chapel Down Brut to enjoy with their picnic during a day out at the races.
