Almost 2,000 Kent primary school pupils will be discovering the magic and mystery of science at the Pfizer’s 15th annual Science Jamboree. Researchers from the world’s leading healthcare company at Sandwich will be unveiling a whole host of exciting experiments and scientific demonstrations for the Year 6 pupils at the Pfizer Social Club, on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 and 26.

The event will also welcome Richard Ashworth, MEP for the South East, who will join youngsters at the Jamboree on Wednesday morning. As well as taking part in a selection of 16 wacky and whizzy demonstrations, where they will learn how science impacts their everyday lives, the children will have the opportunity to experience the Pfizer Air Show.

The show uses hot air balloons, rockets, mechanical birds and ping pong balls that travel at 200mph to investigate the forces that help keep us on the ground and in the air and Newton’s three laws of motion.

James Graham, Pfizer Associate Director, Public Affairs, said: “The Science Jamboree is great fun and very inspiring. Our scientists really enjoy showing young people how much fun science can be and how it plays an important part in all aspects of how we live and the world around us.”

Youngsters will be looking forward to discovering what scientific surprises the scientists have in store for them this year. Previous Science Jamborees staged by Pfizer have included exploding custard, flying and self-grating cucumbers, meteorites and maggots as well as balloon surfing.

This year’s Science Jamboree will also include demonstrations and experiments led by Kent Wildlife Trust and the Thanet Coastal Project.
