It has been reported that England star Gareth Barry has phoned his Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill and has demanded that he lets him go to Liverpool. This marks a huge step up in the fight for the midfielder’s signature.

Gareth’s agent Alex Black said that “Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England’s game in Trinidad and told him how he feels. At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.”

Gareth’s pal Steven Gerrard who is the Liverpool captain has also publicly campaigned for the transfer to happen. But it’s said that Aston Villa has turned down two offers of £10million and £12m.

It’s reported that Aston Villa want top dollar for Gareth’s services and are refusing any player-plus-cash offers. But Gareth hopes that a compromise deal can be thrashed out at around £15m.

What do you think of this move?
