Yesterday Footballer Luke McCormick was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and having no insurance. The court heard yesterday that Luke was weaving across the road and more than twice the legal alcohol limit when he was involved in the horror smash that killed two young boys.

The boy’s distraught mother Amanda Peak clutched a photo of Ben, eight, and his brother Arron, 10, and cradled their favourite Teddy bear as Luke appeared before Fenton magistrates. The boys father Philip who is 37 still remains in intensive care following the M6 crash and Amanda has broken the tragic news to him.

Nick Price, prosecuting, said that “There were two cars involved. The collision had devastating consequences. Two boys died and their mother is devastated. The defendant’s car was seen to be swerving several times on the motorway. The defendant was over the limit for driving cars.” Nick Price asked for the case to be sent to crown court. Joanne Corbett, defending, agreed and said that “This is appropriate to send to the crown court.”

Luke was released on conditional bail and the case was sent to Stoke-on-Trent crown court, where he will next appear on the 16th June. Like must not leave the UK and must live at an address in Coventry reporting to a police station every other day between 10am and 12pm. He must also not travel to Bolton or Manchester, or drive a vehicle.

What do you think the out come will be?

I think that he will be serving time but for how long we will have to wait and see. He can say bye to his football for a while.
