Soccer Ace Luke McCormick charged with boy’s drink-drive deaths

Soccer Ace Luke McCormick has been accused of killing two boys in a drink drive car crash on the M6. Brothers Arron 10, and Ben eight, died after their family Toyota collided with Luke’s Range Rover. The horrifying accident happened on the southbound M6 near Keele services, Staffs, at 5.45am on Saturday. The boy’s dad Philip who is 37, is in intensive care. The boy’s mum said that “Nothing will compensate us for our loss.”

Luke who is 24 is said to be a £4,000 a week goalie for Plymouth Argyle ex-England youth international is accused of drink-driving, death by dangerous driving and having no insurance after the crash on the M6 near Keele services, Staffs. Luke is in custody and will appear in court today.

Amanda who is the boys mum said that “No parent should have to go through the nightmare we’ve gone through. Nothing will ever compensate us for the loss we’re feeling.” There dad was taking the excited boys to a fun day out at Silverstone race track - is in intensive care with a broken back and neck and severe internal injuries.

In a statement Amanda said that “Phil and I are devastated at the sudden and tragic death of our two beautiful boys, Arron and Ben. Arron loved life, and especially football at which he excelled. Ben was a happy loving son and brother. Both the boys were excited to be going with their dad to Silverstone. Phil is not only having to come to terms with the loss of his sons but also has to cope with his serious injuries.”

Senior investigating officer Paul Bennett said that “This is tragic. My heart goes out to Amanda and Phil. I don’t know how they’re coping.”
