David Beckham has admitted that he was scared as a fan ran on to the pitch and approached him during his Los Angeles team’s 3-2 win at home to Colorado. It’s said that David was stunned when a black-shirted Asian man rushed towards him in the second half. All the fan wanted to do was to give David a high-five and then a brief hug before defender Chris Klein knocked over the invader, who was then dragged away by security.

David said that “I was concerned when I first saw him because he didn’t have a smile on his face and he didn’t have a Galaxy shirt on. I didn’t know if he was going to give me a hug or something else. Luckily he just wanted to give me a high-five and that was the end of it.”

LA boss Ruud Gullit admitted that “It was a crazy game for a coach, with the red cards and the fan. But I was most concerned we didn’t close the game out at 3-0 up.”

Do you think that securty needs to be better at matches?
