According to reports Pub giant J D Wetherspoon has confirmed that it is looking to move into Ramsgate very soon. They have submitted a planning application to Thanet council to turn the King’s Church premises in King’s Street into a pub. The pub chin already owns the Mechanical Elephant on Margate seafront, and is now expressing an interest in setting up a pub in the Royal Harbour town. I don’t know about you but the Mechanical Elephant in Margate has become even more popular since they introduced music as it used to be a music free zone. Every time I go to Margate on a night out that’s where I end up.
I can not wait for Wetherspoons to move to Ramsgate because Margate just seems to be going down hill with its nightlife and as most people know Ramsgate is now known for being the place to go. I can tell you that I have not really seen any trouble in Ramsgate but in Margate there is always a number of fights going on over the weekend.
A spokesman for J D Wetherspoon said that “There is a site we are looking at but it hasn’t moved any further than that. We don’t want to say where it is as we don’t want to compromise the people who own it. We are keen to move into the town and have identified a site which we are keen on and which we have in mind but we need to be able to deal with the owners as and when they are ready to.”
Which town do you prefer on a night out Margate or Ramsgate?

Surely Thorley will not allow this. He makes to much money with his pubs to allow a low cost chain pub entering his area.
