Parents like me have been urged today to register their children for the Kent Test after the county’s 11 plus exam moved to September. Its said that on Wednesday Kent County Council opened the registration process after the Schools Secretary, Ed Balls, gave the authority permission to move the tests from January last month.
This is said to be the first time that parents have had to register their child to sit the 11 plus and forms must be submitted before the July 11 deadline. Guess I am going to be busy filling out forms in the next couple of days.
In some ways I think that it is good that the test has been moved but on the other hand my daughter will have only just turned 10 in august and will be sitting the test which means that she is missing out on a whole year of input that would had if in January. That is what I don’t agree with maybe it should be called the 10+ not the 11+ knowing that a lot of children will be 10.
Cllr Mark Dance, KCC’s cabinet member for education, said that “As this is the first time parents have had to register their child for the Kent Test, I’m expecting take-up to be higher and we’re expecting to handle more than 25,000 test papers. The registration forms have been sent to all Kent primary schools and they are really user-friendly.”
The 11+ (10+) will take place on September 18th and 19th and the results will be available on October 21st you will then have until November 7th to complete your Childs secondary school application form online or return it to their primary school.
What do you make of all this? Have they made a big mistake?
