When we hear the word “Free” it has a kind of ring to it, well it means no money after all and that’s got to be good. This is just what you get in today’s 30th annual Museum Mile Festival; it will cost you nothing to visit nine of the country’s finest museums on Fifth Avenue from 6PM-9PM.
You can get free admission to the German Cultural Center, Neue Galerie New York, Cooper Hewitt, National Academy Museum, The Jewish Museum, El Museo del Barrio, the Museum of the City of New York, the Guggenheim and the Met. The fun does not stop inside, we are also hearing you will have a lot to do outside thanks to the traffic being cleared from 82nd Street to 105th Street on Fifth Avenue (That’s 23 car-free blocks).
You will find art-in-the-street activities, an interactive street mural project, entertainment and live bands all for free. The event has been happening for the past 29 years and this year is expected to see over 50,000 New Yorkers turn up.
Did you visit the Museum Mile today and if so, what did you think?
What would be really cool is for this free Festival to carry on for another 30 years and keep the good things in life free.
