Now majority of us are on Facebook I am but the EU chiefs have decided to blow £3million of taxpayer’s cash yes that’s right on setting up an internet rival to Facebook. It’s said that they want politicians from 27 member states to join new social networking website myparl.eu to share ideas and have debates.
Now almost half of its cost will be eaten up translating what they post into all 23 EU languages. The website that is due to go live in October this year was branded a waste of money last night by some of the 650 MEPs who already sign up to Facebook.
Godfrey Bloom who is from the UK Independence Party MEP, called the project “a desperate and failing attempt to be fashionable”. He said that “They must have more money than sense – but it’s not their money, it’s ours.” And Mark Wallace, of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, said: “There’s nothing worse than politicians spending taxpayers’ money on trying to be cool.”
What do you think of this idea?
At least we now know what they are wasting our tax money on. No-wonder they keep increasing our taxes.
