What a match it was last night it was close all the way right to the end but after
MAN United keeper Edwin van der Sar saved Chelsea’s penalty shoot out Man United was crowned the Champions. Man U won it 6-5 on penalty kicks after John Terry Missed the goal that would have seen his side lift the European Cup for the first time.
As John Terry was taking his shoot that could have won the cup for Chelsea he slipped as he struck the ball and crumpled in a heap with his head in his hands just as a euphoric Van der Sar punched the air. Terry cried on the shoulder of Chelsea boss Avram Grant as he watched rival captain Rio Ferdinand lift the trophy.
Frank Lampard said that “John is Mr Chelsea. He wants it more than anyone and not many centre-halves would stand up and take a penalty of that importance. John did what he did and he will be back.”
Last night’s historic victory in the first ever all-English Champions League final saw Premier League champions Man United be crowned the kings of Europe for a third time. Last time they won was in 1968 and in a dramatic 1999 final.
What did you think of the match?
