The beat officers in Medway Kent division have been doing real work at last, trying out a new uniform which will replace the normal and traditional white shirts and clip on tie with the all new polo shirts.
I have always said that police should wear something they are comfortable in because it makes them work at ease, the beat officers in the Kent police division are trying out the new black zip-up shirts which will be worn for the next 3 months (Yes they can wash them in between). Community support officers will be wearing blue, this new trial will starts as of today. Apparently which is a good point, that the new polo shirt will help them be more comfortable when wearing body armour, it will hopefully help them cope?
Chief Supt. Said Jan Stephens “The safety and comfort of our officers is paramount and the force is keen to ensure they are properly equipped to carry out their duties,” “This trial is a result of listening to the needs of police officers and ensuring that our uniforms keep pace with the changing role of professional policing duties.”
The public are also being asked to send the Kent Police their views and comments, obviously they will take the police officers comments into account as well, oh just so you know police officers still have to wear white shirts and black ties when not on front-line duties, will this new uniform become standard issue is something only time will tell.
