It has been announced that the Kent Police are going to help fund Community groups that help tackle crime. It said that the Kent People’s Trust has selected five causes for its latest round of donations and they are awarded every three months.
The three that have been chosen this time round is Family Matters which is based in Gravesend and they were given £2,500 towards its work with children and young people who have been sexually assaulted.
The second was The Canterbury Oast Trust received who received £2,306 for garden equipment for a vocational programme for ex-offenders.
And lastly was the West Kent Women’s Refuge who also received funding to help give counselling to the children who flee with their mothers to the refuge. This i think is a great idea because it is always the kids that suffer in situations like this.
Jacqueline Cassidy who is the director of Kent People’s Trust, said that “Stopping domestic abuse has always been one of the main goals of the trust, and we are delighted to support the incredible work that is being done across the county to tackle this hidden crime.”
