Residents who live near the Kent College and school campus want some action to stop students parking on their streets; this all came about after parking restrictions had been imposed on students of the 6 colleges and schools in Maidstone’s Oakwood Park to stop illegal parking on the site.
Oakwood Road residents have said that the numbers are increasing when it comes to student drivers abusing resident bays, Kent County Council (KCC) have said that they are now working with schools and colleges to help resolve this problem. Non-residents are allowed to park for two hours at a time in the residents parking bays in Oakwood Road, but people are basically leaving their cars and or scooters there all day.
Although some tickets were being issued it is apparent that it was not dealing with the problem as a whole, during school hours this is a very bad time and parking is murder, this is what the people in the area are saying. Parking restrictions were introduced at Oakwood Park with the backing of Kent Police, and this is because of safety concerns for students,” it said in a statement.
If you are one of these persons having troubles in this area, please do let us know all about it?
