A Sculpture of Amy Winehouse is to go on show at Central London’s Mall Galleries in London as part of its annual Royal Society of British Artists exhibition and this sculpture is entitled Excess by Guy Portelli who is from Tonbridge, Kent, South East England.
The bronze sculpture shows Amy Winehouse with her trademark beehive hairstyle, sitting on top of a smashed champagne bottle. Amy’s body looks like it is covered with what appears to be tiny pills and she is also holding a glass outstretched and beneath her feet lays a pool of liquid.
Another piece that is going on display is a print by art student Charlotte Suckling that shows Amy Winehouse with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. Guy Portelli said that “I think she is great. I would never make a sculpture of someone I didn’t respect.” The exhibition runs from the 15th May 15 to 25th May.
Amy Winehouse has had success with her two albums but has had to endure seemingly relentless media speculation about her lifestyle, behaviour and relationships.
Will you be visiting the exhibition?
