Dr Alison Mowbray an Olympic rowing silver medalist has given out awards to 30 schools in Kent who managed to achieve Healthy Schools status today. To date 395 schools in the Kent area have now received the Healthy Schools status, this is a result of working closely with the Kent Programme alongside Kent County Council (KCC) and Kent NHS.
Mowbray gave the schools an inspiring talk as she went into detail about how her rowing career started as an 18-year-old, and she said that she could never have imagined back then that would have won a Silver Olympic Medal. It only took Dr Alison Mowbray 10 years to win the medal, some people try for longer and never make it to the Olympics so it is a great achievement.
Mowbray is one of many Olympic medalists who visit schools in the hope of putting their message across about exercising more while at school, Kelly Holmes has been encouraging pupils in schools around the country to live a healthier lifestyle.
